Taggart Cycles Purple Rando 55cm Complete Bike

Taggart Cycles is a brand of steel rando bikes handmade in Portland by one of our own (former) mechanics named Alex, who is also the founder of the Lost Horizons weekly ride group. We're big fans of what he's doing, so when he asked if we wanted to display one of his creations, we said OF COURSE! This randonneur frame can handle almost any challenge that might arise, all while keeping you comfortable and happy. At first glance, what stands out about this frame is the craftsmanship. While most frames today are TIG welded, this frame is lugged and fillet brazed. It has no bearing on the ride quality, but it sure looks classic. Despite its appearance, this bike is anything but stuck in the past. It has all the features you need for adventures on and off road. More pics and complete specs coming soon. - TRP Spyre calipers with 180mm rotor in front (ideal for steep offroad descents) - Sugino OX601 super compact crankset - Dynamo lighting with internal wiring. Shutter Precision PD-8 hub, B&M IQ-X, and Schmidt fender mounted tail light - Low trail geometry optimized for front load - Front rack and decaleur with integrated bag retention bungee. Kona Rove ST GRX

This is a Kona Rove ST equipped with full GRX, making it suitable for touring and bikepacking as well as all-around road and gravel riding. It's the Swift Rove but without the Swift bags, rack, Brooks saddle, or fenders. Note that Roves run big. If you normally ride a 58 road bike, for example, the 56 Rove would probably suit you better. Kona Swift Rove

Bikepacking is all the rage these days. The Rove ST makes the perfect base for this special edition build. We’ve partnered with Seattle’s Swift Industries to kit out the Rove ST with color-matched bags and custom touches, sending you into the wild in style! Only 201 Swift Roves exist, so they’re sure to be a collector’s item! Two things: One, Rove sizing is weird, and they definitely run big. So if you normally ride a 56 road bike, you'll want to look at a 54 Rove. Be sure to check the geo chart. Secondly, if you like the idea of a Rove ST with GRX but don't need or want the Swift bags, rack, and Brooks saddle, we can do that for $2300. Drop us a line.
Surly Disc Trucker 700c

The Pack Rat is the culmination of all those years and is specifically designed around porteur-style racks and front-loading optimization. Why would someone want to strap a bunch of crap to the front of their bike? Glad you asked. Having your stuff in front of you means it’s close at hand and easily accessible. It also allows for better weight distribution. We’ve all ridden with a pannier full of groceries. Some of us have wiped out around a sketchy corner and watched as our precious eggs and bananas go flying every which way in an act of Mario Kart-level carnage. A front load keeps the bike nimble and allows you to more efficiently use your body English to steer from the rear and avoid such a super market massacre. The drawback with front-loading on a lot of bikes, however, lies in how it affects the bike’s handling. The weight pulls you through turns in an awkward sort of way as if the load is doing the steering and you don’t even have control over your own life anymore. It makes for an overall less enjoyable ride. The Pack Rat’s front cargo-specific design eliminates that steering issues but also rides great without cargo. Soma Buena Vista 58cm disc frameset

One of the most graceful frames in production, the Soma Buena Vista frameset is now compatible with disc brakes, making it a rarity among mixtes. Handbuilt of high-quality Tange Prestige steel. Obviously offers lots of standover height and style as well. You’ll find the geometry is more sporty, than upright-comfy. Though it can be built up to suit either demeanor. Drop bars? Sure.
