Using a Surly Ghost Grappler frame as our base we built up a custom singletrack-ripping flat bar take on the Ghost Grappler.
The Ghost Grappler is Surly's steel bikepacking trail bike. With mountain geo designed around a comfortable, confident position, it's lively and responsive on single track, double track, and other degraded surfaces. Ready to haul essential gear for all-day dirt rides and quick bikepacking excursions, captured thru-axles front and rear provide ideal stiffness and handling. Built around 27.5" wheels and compatible with internally geared hub and single-speed setups, Surly's tried-and-true Gnot-Boost spacing allows riders to run 142mm or 148mm rear hubs.

Straggler is a bikepacking-inspired road/gravel bike mostly at home on pavement but ready for trail duty when called.

Straggler is tuned for cross-over exploration on a wide variety of terrain conditions. It's a day-tripper and a weekender. It's a "rough road" road bike, a cyclocross bike with no pretense about racing, a utilitarian townie, a light-duty touring bike and an all-weather commuter. It's a steel gravel bicycle that thrives on the road. Think of it as a "mountain biker's road bike." If you only have room for one bike in your life, Straggler can (and should) be your one and only.
Straggler's capabilities go well beyond asphalt. It also lends itself well to light touring setups. We're talking frame bags, seat bags, and "credit card touring" rather than full-blown touring. Straggler also handles our 8- and 24-Pack Racks well, so you have some heavier-duty loading options.

The Bridge Club fork is designed around the 27.5 wheel size with tire clearance up to 2.8, but is also capable of running 700c wheel setups with max tire clearance of 47c. It has 51mm I.S. disc caliper mounts and brake line guides as well. It only has the barnacles that matter most to the discerning bike tourist. The fork features upper and lower barrel bosses, one three pack mount on each leg, mid-blade eyelets, and rack mounts on the fork ends.

Single chainring drive train setups are all the rage these days. With the introduction of exceedingly wide range 10- and 11-speed cassettes, the need for two chainrings has become a thing of the past. But when you only have one chainring, the only thing standing between you and a long walk back to the trailhead is you making sure you don't destroy your one chainring. That's why Surly made a chainring guard to fit O.D. cranks. It is made of aluminum and will take the hit for your chainring. It comes in 5 bolt, 94mm BCD and was designed to protect 22t – 30t rings.
