In the past few months we’ve grown into a couple of separate but related entities: one for your bike and one for your biking body. JoeBike Apparel is the nation’s largest collection of stylish, functional urban bike clothing. Brands include Mission Workshop, Loeka, Riyoko Urban Wear, Sheila Moon, Swrve, DZR Shoes, Club Ride, Greenlite Heavy Industries, Po Campo bags, Chrome, Giro New Road, and many others.
Joe Bike the bike shop is a full-service retail and repair shop that specializes in family-friendly cargo bikes, high-performance touring bikes and touring gear, and the most advanced urban bikes available, many equipped with Gates Carbon Drive, internally geared and dynamo hubs, and hydraulic or mechanical disc brakes. We’re a neighborhood bike shop in Southeast Portland that happens to have built an international clientele.
Our bike lineup includes state-of-the-art urban bikes from Spot Brand of Golden, Colorado, and Norco of Vancouver, BC. We feature high-performance touring bikes from Surly, particularly the Disc Trucker, and from Germany’s Tout Terrain, whose continent-crossing touring frames are designed specifically for Rohloff internally geared hubs and Gates Carbon Drive. We’re also the world’s largest dealer of Yuba Bicycles, including the renowned Mundo family hauler. Other brands include Minneapolis-based Civia Cycles, whose mission of grace with practicality we admire; San Francisco’s Soma Fabrications, a small manufacturer of beautiful frames such as the Buena Vista mixte, the Double Cross disc, and the Saga. We’re also the only bike shop in the world that carries the complete line of bike-related leather accessories made by Walnut Studiolos.
In recent years our staff designed and handmade the highly acclaimed ShuttleBug cargo bike, which has been the most sophisticated bike of its kind to enter production mode. In a review of the top utility bikes, Discovery Channel’s Treehugger.com recently ranked the ShuttleBug “the Champagne of kid/cargo bikes”. The Mundo was also ranked among the top 5 in that article.
